Countdown to the facelift in Larnaca Marina

The first projects are ready in '23, they get permits and start work on the dock next April.

Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd is expected to have an answer in the next few days to the request to repair the dock of the Larnaca Marina. If the approval is given, then the bidding process starts immediately which should be completed by April, since according to planning, the aim is to start immediately from April 1st the repair work on the dock. According to the same timetables, the facelift of the dock will be completed in a period of nine to twelve months.

The cost for the redevelopment of the marina dock is estimated at around 25-30 million euros, and is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
Food and drink. The environmental impact assessment study is expected to be submitted to the Environmental Authority in the coming days.

According to the CEO of the company Panos Alexandrou, four kiosks will be created on the dock which will offer fast food, and hot and cold drinks to the visitors. It is a cafe, an ice cream parlor - creperie, a fast food / bakery and a shop with traditional products. So far there has been no interest from well-known brands, however, well-known brands are not currently, at least, in the company's priorities. The size of the real estate on the dock also "precludes" the expression of interest from restaurant-type businesses. Benches and tables for the public will also be placed in places along the pier, some parts of the pier will be highlighted, maintained, water lighting will be installed. In the existing Nautilus lodge of the sea scouts, a photo exhibition will be hosted about the past, the present and what the marina and the dock will be like in the future. The goal, with the development of the project, is to add the corresponding photos, while with its completion, there is an overall depiction of the change from yesterday to today. As part of the dock facelift, the existing crane will also be restored and repositioned to become a landmark for the marina. Demolition of illegal properties within the marina will also proceed to create new storage areas for boat and car parking, and then the existing office will be repaired. All the works, the cost of which is estimated at around 25-30 million euros, are expected to be completed by the spring of 2023. Subsequently, the next phases of the project will proceed.

The first phase of the project, with the new platforms, docks, etc. has a five-year implementation horizon. The rest of the project will take another seven years. So, in order to complete all the designs of the Larnaca marina and port redevelopment project, it will take a period of twelve years. By the spring of 2023, it is estimated that work will begin on the project's first five-star hotel in the marina. The company is currently in contact with various international chains in the tourism and hospitality sector, while the fact that so far Larnaca does not have a significant presence of luxury hotels seems to be an issue, apart from perhaps the relatively recent addition of the Radisson Blu international chain. Based on the plan, there is a provision for the construction of a second hotel between the port and the marina, which will also be a five-star hotel, the works of which will begin in 2027.
